I can't tell you how much I enjoyed making this little book. It reminded me of what I feel is at the core of all I create. Trying to keep things loose and immediate, capturing the essence of the subject matter, not working too too much into it, keeping it alive and full of me. Basically I played, and I loved it.
This little book is essentially an artist zine, based on the idea of a birding sketchbook. It is made up of images from a trip I made recently with my family. I decided to take us all to Port Augusta to visit the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens because my eldest son loves lizards and I was told there would be lots there! Some images were drawn during the trip and many were made from photos that I took along the way.
I think making this little book is going to inspire me in many ways, it will have knock on effects. Watch this space, and I'm sure I'll be making more in the series!
This book measures 12.5 x 13cm. It is soft covered. Printed and bound in Ballarat, Vic.
