Bin Chicken Appreciation Society Embroidered Patch
THIS DESIGN IS BEING RETIRED

When I designed this pin and later the patch, I thought of "bin chicken" as a typically Australian affectionate nickname. It's been pointed out to me that this nickname minimises the environmental upheaval that caused the white ibis to start appearing in more urban and suburban areas, and makes light of their consuming foods that aren't part of their natural diet and aren't good for them, through human-caused scarcity of resources.

When I first made an ibis design a few years ago, my husband (who is not an ibis fan because of an incident when he was five involving a potato cake and said bird) declared "why would you make a pin of a bin chicken?! No one will buy that!" aaaand it quickly became my third best selling design! So I have now made the appreciation society into an embroidered patch.
So, show how much you appreciate this loveable wrinkly headed bird by wearing this patch!
This patch has iron on glue on the reverse, however I recommend ironing it in place then sewing to secure. Instructions on the reverse of the packaging.
Measures 8.5 cm wide.
