Silvereye In The Queen Anne's Lace - Original Etching

$275.00

This etching depicts a little corner of my garden seen from my studio window. It is autumn, the last of the Queen Anne's Lace flowers are drying up and expelling their seeds. A little silvereye visits, seeking the seeds, or maybe a tiny insect. The bird moves from stalk to stalk, constantly in motion, while the dying plant stands upright and tall.

This is a drypoint etching. To make it I scratched the image into copper, inked it up in two colours and printed it onto damp cotton rag paper through my lovely new printing press. Every print in the edition has to be inked up by hand each time, thus they are known as 'original prints.'
