Glossie Black Cockatoos are one of the more threatened species of cockatoo in Australia.

$5 from the sale of this pin will go to The Glossy Black Conservancy.

They are very particular about what they eat, favouring seeds from she-oak cones, sometimes only on certain, favourite trees. Their numbers are dwindling due to habitat loss, both for food sources but also for suitable nesting sites. They are delightfully one of the friendliest of Australia's birds, as well as one of the quietest.

Wear your pin and start the conversation about glossy black conservation!

Pin measures 4cm high. Fastens with 2 butterfly clasps at back. For extra security you can find lockable pin backs in a separate listing.

Fantastic!

The pin was superb even better than I’d hoped and the packaging was fantastic as well, it was all very lovely and clearly had thought and effort put into it. I bought it for my grandma who is very passionate about Australian wildlife and particularly Glossy Blacks, as theyre are some that frequent the Casurinas on her property, she adored it and almost burst into tears upon reading the inscription. Thankyou so much! Merry Christmas!

What a beautiful Pin. The artwork is amazing and such good quality workmanship. I am so happy that I bought this item. And it brings awareness to the plight of our native birds. I was surprised to see that there are two pins for attachment making it more stable.

Gorgeous pins!

We really love that Bridget managed to incorporate the yellow facial patches distinctive to female Glossy Black-Cockatoos, as well as their she-oak food source. They are a beautiful and fine quality pin, with two anchor points on the back providing more peace of mind that the pin will stay securely in place.

We are incredibly grateful to Bridget for providing these pins to us for our recent Glossy Black-Cockatoo event, and are sure that they will be well-received by our volunteers.

Wow I love this pin. Great quality and striking to look at. I’m going to buy more. My workmate is obsessed with glossy blacks.

Black cockatoo brooch

I thought the quality of the enamelling was excellent as is the design. Although I knew that the banner had the message 'Save the Glossies' I am having second thoughts about gifting it to the person for whom it was intended. I am sure it will be a lovely gift, but I think this should be made again without the banner if you are thinking of repeating this design.
