The Bush Birds - Book and Game Combo Deal

$50.00

THIS IS A COMBO DEAL FOR THE BOOK AND THE GAME FOR $50

The book was recently included on the notables list for the CBCA (Children's Book Council of Australia) 2022 children's book awards.

The Bush Birds, written and illustrated by moi, consists of twelve riddles for readers to guess which Australian native bird, commonly found in open forests or woodlands, is being depicted. Lift the hidden flap on each double page to find out the answer. These birds are maybe a bit less well known than the twelve birds in my first book, Kookaburra Kookaburra. But I hope that by interacting with the riddles and illustrations readers will soon familiarise themselves with these beautiful birds and find enjoyment in seeking them out while out on their bushwalks..

Information about each bird can be found at the back, as well as a few tips for birding and helping with identifying your spottings!

Birds included in this book and game - White-browed Scrubwren, Red-browed Finch, White-winged Chough, Spotted Pardalote, Diamond Firetail, Scarlet Robin, Grey Shrikethrush, Brown Treecreeper, Golden Whistler, Dusky Woodswallow, White-plumed Honeyeater, Fantailed Cuckoo.

The game consists of 48 cards - 4 sets of 12 designs depicting different native Australian birds commonly found in open forests and woodlands. The cards come in a sturdy 2 piece box.

The cards come with instructions on how to play a number of different games, such as Go Fish (Go Birding!), snap and memory games, as well as encouraging players to invent their own games with the cards. There are also 4 info cards with details about each bird.

The cards are a large size, measuring 9 x 13cm. Please note these are slightly different dimensions to the Kookaburra Kookaburra card game due to The Bush Birds being part of a new range.

The illustrations are all created from dry point etchings which have been hand coloured with watercolour paints.

This book is self published using my own publishing label - Black Cockatoo Books
