Another quiet week here in Guildford. Not a lot achieved (apart from managing to convince my youngest to allow me to cut his hair, which to be honest is something I didn’t think I’d ever achieve.)
I did manage to print an edition of lithographs and hand colour them though. So there’s that!
~

This is the first lithograph I’ve made entirely in the studio that has worked! I’m now trying to figure out why this one worked and others haven’t. It's an ongoing experimental project. I’ll be listing this piece next week so keep an eye out for it.
Another zebra finch, with her mate, will be out of the drying boards next week and I’ll be adding colour then. Here’s a little proof of the piece and experiments with hand colouring below.
I'm thoroughly enjoying plate lithography even though it’s a 3 day process. I get so excited the evening of the first night after I’ve done the initial drawing and first etch of the plate. Anticipating the next day to see if it has worked or not. I’m always an optimist in these situations, I think it’s the only way to be in the face of previous perplexing failures. I KNOW this can be a good printmaking technique for me, so I’m keeping at it.
Keep well, keep warm, keep noticing
xx
