Oringinal Etching - Fairy
To spot a fairywren in the foliage is akin to finding a fairy!
I met this little fairy on a dawn birdwalk in Goondiwindi in QLD when I was traveling up that way a few years ago. I loved the shapes of the flowers behind him! I'm calling him a him after a bit of research into all the fairywrens in that area and the time of year. I think he is probably a male superb fairywren in eclipse plumage (non-breeding/ winter plumage.) Did you know they changed colour depending on the time of the year? Now there's a talking point for this piece!
This is an original dry point etching, inked up by hand and pulled through my printing press on Hahnemulhe cotton rag paper.
