The first time I tried printmaking, I didn’t like it!
I attended art college in Scotland, studying jewellery, and I tried a bit of screenprinting and linocutting. Neither really worked for me.

Initially I came to Australia in 2005 to visit friends, but I fell in love with the country (and a certain Australian man) and have stayed rather longer than I expected (two months, two decades, what’s the difference?)
I attended a weekend printmaking course and I don’t know if it was the different technique, the right time in my life, or just the magic of Australia, but it clicked for me. It was a natural continuation of my love of drawing.
I enjoy the cross over between art and craft when making a drypoint plate.
And somehow printmaking just seems to go with the subject matter of birds!
I still use many of my jewellery making tools and I still get to work in metal, but I am also able to incorporate my loose line drawing style as well as embracing the ‘happy accidents’ that printmaking so often presents.
Is this where I thought I would be 20 years ago? No, not at all!
But would I change it?
No, not at all!
